The Yukon 800 is an annual speedboat race held in June. The race is run from Fairbanks, Alaska to Galena, Alaska and back, on the Chena, Tanana, and Yukon rivers.
The Fairbanks Ice Dogs, a junior hockey team in the North American Hockey League, play at the Big Dipper Ice Arena.
Badger Road is named for Harry Markley Badger, an early resident of Fairbanks who later established a farm along the road and became known as "the Strawberry King".
The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner was founded as the Weekly Fairbanks News in 1903 by George M. Hill. The oldest continuously operating daily in Alaska, it is also the farthest north daily in the United States and one of the farthest north in the world.
