Boise has long been known as the "City of Trees" and continues to deserve the nickname with more than 43,000 trees in its jurisdiction.

The Idaho State Police is headquartered in Meridian and the state police academy is housed on its campus. All police officers statewide are required to attend basic training at the facility.

Many early residents of Nampa called it New Jerusalem because of the large religious community.
