In "Unanswered Paryers", a man introduces his high school sweetheart to his wife. He reminisces about that past relationship and how he had once prayed so fervently that this girl would be his forever. He no longer sees her in the same way as "time had changed" both of them. As he turns to his wife, he thanks God for not answering his original prayer, showing better judgment, and instead putting him with a better woman.

Some of Brooks' most famous songs appear on No Fences, including: "The Thunder Rolls" (CMA's 1991 Video of the Year), "Friends in Low Places" (Academy of Country Music's 1990 Single of the Year), "Unanswered Prayers" and "Two of a Kind, Workin' on a Full House".

Teammates for Kids partners with professional athletes and celebrities with a mission of providing funding for children's hospitals and athletic and educational programs for underprivileged inner city youth, as well as the creation of "Child Safe Zones."

Ropin' the Wind not only debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, but also the Top Country Albums chart. It was the first album by a country singer to top both of these charts since Kenny Rogers achieved the same feat more than a decade earlier.

He was inducted on October 6, 1990, less than two years after his self-titled debut album was released.

Brooks was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame on October 21, 2012, having been inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame the year before. He was also inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum in 2016 with his studio musicians, The G-Men.
